Self-Portrait of a Neighbor from OWIP.org

It’s easy to get stuck in a routine of chocolate giving and Valentine sending that centers around the stuff money can buy.  This Valentine’s Day, celebrate in a new way!  Give yourself the chance to reach out, reinvent your old routine, and discover the hidden joy of helping others.

Somewhere in your neighborhood, there is an opportunity to give a little bit or say a word of thanks.  Perhaps it will come in the form of volunteering at a local community center, extending a small gesture of kindness to the person next door, or donating to a good cause that is overlooked.  Whether across the street, around the corner, or down the block, take the time to celebrate love in the ‘hood this Valentine’s Day and share the results!  Need help brainstorming?  Check out this inspiring post on 16 Charitable Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day by Elaine at philanthropywriting.com.
